This year I decided to push myself even further outside of my comfort zone by volunteering to speak at the annual WordCamp conference. Not only is it a great opportunity for me to practice public speaking and network with others in my industry, it is also a great way for me to share my 15+ years of web development knowledge with others. I get a truly great feeling of satisfaction sharing my skills and knowledge with others. As daunting as it will be speaking in front of so many people I’m hoping it will come easily once I get started on a topic I am very passionate about. At WordCamp Sydney 2018 I will be sharing insights into search engine optimisation covering areas such as paid verse organic results, SEO verse SEM, common SEO myths, understanding of search intent, information on keyword research, ways to improve search engine ranking  plus a bit on popular WordPress SEO tools.

My love affair with search engine optimisation started when I had my own small business (DigiGifts – a personalised & photo gifts online store) over six years ago. Like many new small business owners I had very little funds to back my business venture with the hopes of making it big online for little spend. You can read more about my personal journey of understanding search engine optimisation on my related blog post ‘how to improve your search engine ranking‘.

So if you are in Sydney and free the weekend of 28-29th July 2018, have an interest in web development, search engine optimisation or WordPress, then you should seriously consider attending this great event. It’s the best value conference that Sydney will see all year. Tickets are only $55 for two full days including lunch and an after party. The conference is suitable for beginners, business owners and developers a-like with something for everyone. Come along to learn something new or network with like-minded people.

For more details (and to grab yourself a ticket) visit the official WordCamp Sydney 2018 website.

Oh and please don’t hesitate to say hello if you see me at WordCamp. I’ll also be online throughout the event on my social channels (Twitter & Slack).
